Video games and gaming – the audience fights back

RoutledgeThe Routledge Companion to British Media History is about to launch. The book, out 3 September, brings together a wide collection of essays and articles on the history of media in Britain.

Among them you’ll find my contribution – ‘Video games and gaming – the audience fights back’ – which now feels very timely what with the GamerGate controversy given how in part of it I take a look at the work of community managers and how – rather depressingly – death threats and abuse have become almost par for the course in their work.
